We are a number of working professionals and concerned citizens in Pune who have come together to form the Pune Collective aiming to bring democratic and peaceful voices on a platform that champions the ideals of freedom, pluralism, secularism, tolerance, and social justice.
We plan to invite a number of activists, scholars, students, and artists to celebrate the spirit of democracy and voices of reason and scientific temper.
Historically, Pune has been at the center of progressive and social reformist movements, and we would like to carry forward this progressive legacy which has contributed to creating a modern, rationalist, and just society. Our program will be a combination of panel discussions, talks, and a variety of cultural expressions like music, poetry, and artistic exhibitions.
The idea is to continue our explorations of the centrality of secularism, the role of youth, questions of caste and gender oppression, economic policies and their impact, scientific and rationalist thinking, as well as the function of culture and art in building a democratic society, and most importantly the syncretic traditions that are the basis of the idea of India.

शिक्षक, डॉक्टर, आर्किटेक्ट, प्राध्यापक, वकील, इंजिनिअर, लेखक, कलाकार तसेच सामाजिक कार्यकर्ते अशा विविध क्षेत्रातील लोकांनी एकत्र येत ‘पुणे कलेक्टिव’ स्थापन केले आहे.
स्वातंत्र्य, बहुलतावाद, धर्मनिरपेक्षता, सहिष्णुता आणि मानवी न्याय याचा पुरस्कार करणाऱ्या या विचारमंचावरून लोकशाहीची मूल्यांचा प्रसार व्हावा हे आमचे उद्दिष्ट आहे. यासाठी सामाजिक तसेच राजकीय कार्यकर्ते, विविध विषयातील तज्ज्ञ, विद्यार्थी आणि कलाकार यांना आम्ही आमंत्रित करणार आहोत.
‘पुणे कलेक्टिव्ह’मध्ये समकालीन सामाजिक विषयांवर संवाद, चर्चासत्रे तसेच विविध कलांचे प्रदर्शन इत्यादी अभिव्यक्तीचे संयोजन असेल. ऐतिहासिकदृष्ट्या पुणे हे पुरोगामी आणि समाजसुधारक चळवळींचे केंद्र आहे. पुण्याचा हा पुरोगामी वारसा पुढे चालू ठेवण्याचा हा एक प्रयत्न असणार आहे.
धर्मनिरपेक्षता, तरुणांची भूमिका, जातीय व लैंगिक अत्याचाराचे प्रश्न, आर्थिक धोरणे आणि त्याचा परिणाम, वैज्ञानिक विचार, संस्कृती आणि कला यांचे कार्य आणि मुख्य म्हणजे समन्वयाची परंपरा असणाऱ्या संविधानाला अपेक्षित अशा भारतीयतेच्या संकल्पनेचा शोध घेणे हा यामागचा विचार आहे.
